March 17, 2017: CASA-1000 Secretariat conducted pre-bid meeting at Hotel Millennium Plaza in Dubai with the potential bidders for transmission lines associated with IsDB funding. Nine out of ten prequalified bidders attended the meeting. Bidders’ questions (both technical and commercial) submitted in advance of the pre-bid meeting as well as those raised during the meeting itself were answered to the extent possible. Countries will provide additional information with respect to the queries sent before March 28, 2017.

January 22, 2017: On January 20-22 Procurement Commitee and Joint Working Group conducted the meeting in Sheraton Dubai, Mall of Emirates to discuss open procurement issues and coordinate next steps for project implementation. Several critical issues were resolved including providing requested information to potential Converter Stations tender bidders, expediting of tender launching for IsDB and EIB components, retendering of HVDC Owner's Engineer.

December 8, 2016: : CASA-1000 IGC Secretariat conducted an event in Dubai consisting of a pre-bid conference with potential converter station bidders which was followed up by the Procurement Committee (PC) and Joint Working Group (JWG) meetings. More than 75 representatives from ABB, GE/Alstom, Siemens, TBEA, CEEC, CET, IFC, World Bank and USAID attended the meeting. JWG and PC in response to requests from potential bidders for Convertor Stations made decisions on procurement process and project implementation issues. Among most notable was a decision to extend a bid submission deadline until April 27, 2017. That should allow bidders to have more time for bid preparation and to increase chances that more companies would participate in a tender.
November 24, 2016: Bidders conference for Covertor Stations in Sangtuda, Tajikistan and Nowshera, Pakistan to discuss bidding documents is scheduled for December 5-6, 2016 in MILLENNIUM PLAZA HOTEL DUBAI, P.O.Box 191055, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
October 6, 2016: The tender for Covertor Stations in Sangtuda, Tajikistan and Nowshera, Pakistan is launched. Invitation for bids is published on project countries' web-sites.
The detailed Qualifying Requirements (QR) are given in the bidding document of the subject package. The Bidding Documents are in English with Russian translation (in case of any discrepancy the English version shall prevail). The complete bidding documents are available for free download on a password-protected electronic data room hosted by Imprima. Requests for access to the electronic data room should be sent to the following email address - Bidders@casa-1000.org – stating the name and address of party making the request. Interested bidders can download the bidding documents and commence preparation of bids to gain time. The clarifications and amendments if any will also be posted in the PDF format for free download in the same website.
September 19-21, 2016, Dubai, UAE: Secretariat conducted the Procurement Committee (PC) meeting in Dubai. The main purpose of the meeting was discussion and approval of the comments received from HVDC manufactures on convertor stations tender documents. The PC agreed with the changes to be made in tender documents and updated the project implementation schedule. It was agreed that Convertor Stations tender will be launched no later than October 6, 2016. The bid submission deadline has been set for February 6, 2017. The PC also agreed to conduct pre-bid meeting on December 5-6, 2016 in Dubai.
September 18-20, 2016, Dubai, UAE: CASA-1000 Secretariat attended the Afghanistan Energy Business Opportunities Exhibition and conference which was conducted with USAID support in Dubai, UAE. Conference attendees expressed strong interest in CASA-1000 recognizing the importance of the project to the region. The CASA-1000 Secretariat and the Afghan delegation had an opportunity to communicate with potential HVDC manufacturers and EPC contractors on the current status and the next stages of the project. Many Afghan companies attended the CASA-1000 stand seeking opportunities to be involved in the implementation of the project. The Secretariat’s representatives described the CASA-1000 procurement processes and the ways for Afghan companies could be involved in the project.
August 21-26, 2016, Paris, France: On August 21-26, 2016 Secretariat successfully set up and staffed the CASA-1000 Project booth at the CIGRE conference in Paris. Concurrently the Secretariat coordinated meetings between HVDC manufacturers and the high level country representatives who attended CIGRE and held a CASA-1000, Procurement Committee meeting on August 23-25, 2016. Attending CIGRE, having a CASA-1000 booth and holding the concurrent meetings was very fruitful and all the CIGRE attendees who met with CASA-1000 staff and the high level county representatives demonstrated high interest in the project. HVDC manufactures noted that reconfiguration significantly simplified the project and reduced security concerns. All major project issues were discussed and potential bidders seemed satisfied with the answers provided. The unresolved issues will be provided in the comments to be incorporated in the tender documents. The four CASA-1000 countries agreed to a new project timeline and to conduct the next Procurement Committee meeting on September 19-20, 2016 in Dubai.
